Thursday, May 10, 2007, Sarah fainted at school. She was taken to a local ER & then transported to Phoenix Children's Hospital with a diagnosis of restrictive cardiomyopathy.

July 5, 2007 Sarah received her new heart. However, during the transplant she suffered a massive stroke that left her paralyzed.

Update on Sarah

Mom and Dad's picture

Hi all. I know it's been a while since I have given an update. I hope you all got to read the article in the West Valley View about Our Sarah. I think the reporter did a very nice job. As you all know Sarah's voice is barley above a whisper. The ENT ear nose and throat doctors told us we had to wait a year to see if her voice would come back on it's own. Verdicts in and her voice has not changed, so now they are doing test to see what can be done to her vocal cords. ENT Dr told us that Sarah's left vocal cord is one step from being paralyzed, but that he can do somethings to help her voice get better, but first she must go through a few more test. A couple of months ago she had to have a swallow test, and this Thursday they will be doing a video-scope of her throat. If everything checks out OK, he said that he can inject the left vocal cord with something to make it thicker so that both vocal cords will touch, hence making her voice louder. Let pray that it all goes well. She would love to get her voice back. Right now we are also in between therapist and are having much difficulty finding new ones, so I am coming to you all because as of yet you all have not let us down when I ask that you all pray for us, pray for us to find a good therapist, and for Sarah to continue fighting her way back to being 100%. I also ask that you pray for Larry and I. I know that by the looks of me my outward appearance looks fine, but my heart hurts everyday, and I know that Larry's does too, but he puts on a brave face. As parents we still worry a lot.My next few words I say, please know that I say them with love. The days of people asking us how we are doing are things of the past, I believe that time itself does that. The outward appearance looks normal, so everything must be fine, but if only you could just peek inside your hearts would break. I also know that it's not intentional, but life sometimes just gets in the way. Just remember this you never know who's day you'll brighten by just asking and really meaning how is your day.Thank you and God bless.
Sarah's Parents,
Larry and Margaret
