Thursday, May 10, 2007, Sarah fainted at school. She was taken to a local ER & then transported to Phoenix Children's Hospital with a diagnosis of restrictive cardiomyopathy.

July 5, 2007 Sarah received her new heart. However, during the transplant she suffered a massive stroke that left her paralyzed.

Another student that did not make it off the field...
Sometimes you wonder, why Sarah? But then you read an article about another family who lost their child suddenly to heart disease. And, you think... OH God,  thank you for Sarah! And, you remember why you stopped questioning it a long time ago.
Most people do not realize, Sarah is a rare miracle. It is almost unheard of for students to leave their schools alive once heart disease strikes in full force. Not only  that, but Sarah's school did not call for an ambulance... her dad & nanny picked her up from school. Then, her dad made the decision to take her to the hospital.
Healthy hearts in students is not only something that should be pursued locally, it should be nationally as well.
