Thursday, May 10, 2007, Sarah fainted at school. She was taken to a local ER & then transported to Phoenix Children's Hospital with a diagnosis of restrictive cardiomyopathy.

July 5, 2007 Sarah received her new heart. However, during the transplant she suffered a massive stroke that left her paralyzed.

D'Zhana Simmons

Fourteen year old D'Zhana Simmons gets emotional at a press conference in Miami on Wednesday. D'Zhana was kept alive for 118 days with a custom-made total artificial heart while awaiting a second transplant.

Please pray for D'Zhana Simmons. I know most people think the struggle for a transplant patient is in the hospital... unfortunately, the battle comes full force once you are home.

Everyone wants to be part of the exciting times in the hospital. Only a few people are in it for the long haul, when times are rough.

Let me just take a moment to brag on my childhood best friend, Angel Hollingsworth (Klassen) & her family. From the beginning they were there. In the background, bringing paper for fliers, getting things donated (including a brand new queen size bed) & helping with EVERYTHING - behind the scenes.

To this very day Angel's husband, parents, siblings, aunts, cousins & all still contact us & still do everything they can to be a support network for our family. They don't want any "thank you's"... I've tried many times to thank them... they tell me "Don't thank me, that's what friends are for. Don't mention it."

So... as D'Zhana Simmons tries to get back to her life, please keep her in prayer - now is the time she will need support. In the hospital you have medical staff & people visiting & sending things. When you are home a large portion of your support is gone. Please pray for D'Zhana's health, spiritual well being & her support network as she returns to her life out side the hospital.

don't mention it!
